Gerardo Betancourt is a Mexican immigrant who moved to Canada in 2000. He has been working in the field of HIV and Sexual Health of racialized men in Canada since 2006. He is currently in the fourth year of his PhD in Social Work. Gerardo has been involved with projects that have gained national and international recognition, such as: Guys Like You/Chicos Como Tu (fotonovela), Mano en Mano, Chicos Net (a behavioural intervention) the Canadian and Colombian version; and lately, he has published a relevant article in relation of how to approach the study of Spanish-speaking gay men sexualities in North America: La Pasión. Gerardo has been a University Without Walls Fellow-UWW (OHTN) (2012-2013), and he also has been awarded with the CIHR Doctoral Research scholarship: HIV/AIDS Community-Based Research (2012-2015).
